The city has quite the booming business district. Both Old Montreal and the downtown area are characterized by skyscrapers from the IBM building to Place-Ville-Marie, where many major businesses operate. Walking around the central district, you will come across the Montreal Stock Exchange located about 10 minutes away from POINT 3 in Old Montreal. In addition, many banking headquarters are situated in the core business area, as well as advertising agencies, radio and television stations, and some major finance and legal firms.
For the most part, the fashion industry has spread to the outskirts of the present business district, most likely due to the need for larger spaces. Many head offices are located along the two major highways leading north of the city in areas such as Laval and Ville Saint-Laurent.
Although the business core is situated in central Montreal, some major companies have found a place to call their own in the northern and southern suburban areas, like Laval or Brossard.
